Winning awards, showcasing in NY/SF/Nashville!

Hi all! What a summer I’ve had – to catch you up, I was the first trans woman to perform at SF’s Dyke March under her own name, which was incredibly exciting; my song “Faultline” won Best Folk Song at the TTMAs, the first-ever awards show dedicated to trans and gnc artists, in NYC, and I performed with my bands at so many shows, opening for Pansy Division(!), and performing at Fabulosa, an incredible feminist music festival. Lots of other cool things are happening I can’t quite mention yet, but all I can say is: cross your fingers for me. Here’s my fall schedule thus far. On August 26, I’ll be holding down bass for The Homobiles at the new Oakland location of the Elbo Room (the former Nightlight). 311 Broadway, Oakland CA, 8 pm.

I also just released a new single (with me on every instrument!) to benefit Trans Lifeline, and inspired by David Crosby’s recent call for a new “Ohio” for our times. It’s available exclusively on my Bandcamp. Check it out here!

One bonus show tomorrow, Aug 10 — I’ll be with my friends at the Leave a Lasting Mark concert series to benefit Oxfam, playing a couple of NYC summer songs! That’s 7-9 pm at the Bitter End.

Back in NY! Westbury 5/7, Rockwood 5/10

Hi friends! I’m really excited to be coming back to NYC for a quick spring visit to catch up with some dear friends, and play a couple of very cool shows!

First is an incredible Sunday afternoon house concert + dinner in Westbury, LI! Though it is acoustic, I’m amped up (heh heh) for this event and hope to see a bunch of my Long Island pals. It’s at 4:30 pm, Sunday May 7, at a private home — email FunkhouseConcerts (at) for reservations. $20 suggested donation, includes dinner, no one turned away for lack of funds! Special opening guest: Pepper Brooks. And capping off the trip is (thanks to all the folks who came out for the last show!) an encore full-band Rockwood Music Hall set! It’s free, at Stage 1, with my NYC band: Chris Kelly, Andy Mac, and Scott Stein. Expect the rock. 10 pm, Wednesday May 10. 196 Allen Street, NYC (just south of Houston). (

And when I get back to the Bay, I’ve got two great shows: the first is bass for The Homobiles at The Nightlight in Oakland on May 14, and then I’ll be performing with my SF band at Concord Pride on the Plaza on May 20. Keep posted for that!

Love y’all lots!

Back in NYC! Rockwood 3/15, Homobiles 3/19! Plus Bitter End Benefit Show!

OMG! It has been a fabulous month of music and a badass month of activism. Last week, I spoke at the SF Gender Strike, in solidarity with International Women’s Day. It was an unbelievable and humbling experience. I am certain we as people are on the verge of some real social change despite external forces. Keep it going!!

So I’m back in NYC for a wonderful, groundbreaking arts festival, and figured since I haven’t been home in 6 months I might as well play a kickass show with my pals! So my full band plays this Weds, March 15, at 11 pm – no cover charge. Right before me are Maddy Wyatt and Michael Wagner, two of my dear friends from the NYC scene – it’s basically a family reunion. 196 Allen Street, New york, NY 10002.

The very next night, Thursday, March 16, I am honored to be part of the Leave a Lasting Mark tribute to NYC songs, in memory of Kenny Gorka, which is a benefit concert for the foundation set up in his memory for musicians in need. That’s at the Bitter End, and I’ll be singing lead on one song and jamming guitar on a few others. 147 Bleecker St, $10 suggested donation.

Last but most certainly not least, on Sunday, March 19, at I’m playing bass with my SF pals, The Homobiles, at the Mx’d Messages Festival, a queer arts fest curated by the incredible Justin Vivian Bond and Elizabeth Koke. Check out this Huffington Post article on the festival! At New York Live Arts (the Bill T. Jones theatre!) 219 West 19th Street, doors at 6. Get tickets here:

Also: When I get back to SF, I’ll be performing a power trio show on 3/31 at Oakland.Secret, the best lil’ DIY venue in town, on a great bill featuring The Truants! Mark your calendars.

SF Eagle, The Backroom, and a return to Bazaar

Hey everyone! There’s a lot could be said, a lot to be said. I’m gonna talk about my music and what I’m up to, but in addition to all that I’m of course terribly concerned about the state of queer people in America, and doing my best to help others in this time that is so very dark for so many of us. If you’re reading this, know that I will have your back. For real.

So here are the things I’m up to!

Thursday, Feb 9: I play with my power trio (the return of Andy Halo & introducing the wonderful Kevin Coleman), opening up for the fabulous Homobiles (with whom I will be playing bass!), and our pal Juba Kalamka, with special guest Alicia BT from France! At SF Eagle, 8 doors, 9 music. 398 12th St at Harrison, SF.

Saturday, Feb 11: I am joining my dear friend Bev Grant on her tour with Charlie King for a set of revolution songs at The Backroom, 8 pm. 1984 Bonita Ave, Berkeley. Bev is a pioneering feminist rock and roll folksinger. If you don’t know her, check her out!

Sunday, February 12: I am beyond honored to be performing as part of the church service at First Church Berkeley, a progressive UCC ministry, currently being held at Congregation Beth El in BK due to a devastating fire. It is a remarkable community, and to share my music is humbling. 10 am. 1301 Oxford St, Berkeley.

Friday, February 17: I rescheduled my acoustic show at Bazaar Cafe last month due to illness — a first for me! The gracious owner, Les, has invited me to return, and I am so very pleased to be able to oblige. This is such a great spot, and props to KC Turner for introducing it to me! I’d love it if you all could spend your Friday hanging out in this special, totally acoustic listening room. 7 pm. 5927 California Street (btwn 21st and 22nd), San Francisco.

So that’s about it for right now!  I’ll be back in NYC in March with the Homobiles for the Live Arts Festival, curated by Mx. Justin Vivian Bond, with a quick full-band set with the usual cast of NY characters at Rockwood Music Hall on March 15. Keep watching this page for some other exciting news!

Rickshaw Stop tonight, solo acoustic on Friday the 13th

Hey everyone! Fun fun shows this week.

Tonight at 8 pm, I will be playing bass for the Homobiles, at the Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell @ Van Ness). We’re in an opening set of some brand-new awesome SF metal bands! Click this link for tickets!

And on Friday at 7 pm, I’m doing a solo acoustic set at Bazaar Cafe, (5927 California St), a fantastic all-ages no cover charge acoustic venue. Thanks to KC Turner for introducing me to this incredible place!

That’s about it for now. Some more big news coming up soon!
